Two ships, no shared instruments, one manifold that has to line up to the centimeter.

Ship-to-ship liquefied natural gas (LNG) transfer requires precise manifold alignment between two vessels that often run different, non-communicating equipment. Trelleborg’s SafePilot Offshore, fitted with the SafePilot CAT MAX unit, gives both vessels a shared, real-time view: distance to go, closing speed, and alignment status, refreshed every second via built-in UHF telemetry. Operators are now hitting manifold alignment to within 1cm, on the first attempt. The system is in operational use worldwide.

As offshore LNG fueling scales up, so does the cost of getting alignment wrong. Precision is the differentiator.
