Tg (Glass transition temperature) of NR (Natural Rubber) +SBR (Styrene butadiene rubber) based fenders is approximately -40 to -50 deg C. It simply means a rubber fender made of NR+SBR will start to crack on stress (similar to the behavior of glass) at -40 deg C or below. Hence, not all fenders available in the market are suitable for applications operating in extreme low temperatures.
If you require fenders operating at super low-temperature conditions, please contact Trelleborg Marine & Infrastructure and Active Solution to discover a new series of fenders using different polymers which are suitable for ultra-low temperature applications.
