Rethinking waste: Our way to circular economy
As we push forward in our sustainability journey, waste management remains a crucial aspect of our efforts. Embracing practices like recycling and waste reduction not only protects our environment from harmful pollutants but also preserves the delicate balance of our ecosystems and biodiversity.
Our group’s Manufacturing Excellence program has long championed the vision of achieving Zero Waste. This initiative has been instrumental in driving us to prioritize waste minimization and maximize recycling efforts, all while increasing our use of bio-based and recycled materials..
And, I am incredibly proud of the progress we’ve made so far. In 2020, we recycled 30% of our waste. By the end of 2023, we jumped to an impressive 78%—a result of the comprehensive measures we implemented across our operations. We’ve improved our product packaging, moving towards reusable solutions and alternatives to plastic foils. Our design teams have developed smarter product designs that naturally create less waste. We’ve also established strategic partnerships for rubber recycling, recognizing the unique challenges and opportunities in our industry.
Within our facilities, we’ve implemented rigorous in-house waste sorting protocols to ensure recyclable materials are properly identified and processed. We’ve found better ways to reuse wood and optimized our steel recycling processes.
These initiatives represent more than just a shift in business practices—they reflect our commitment to making a real difference.
